The National Conference on Communications is organised annually by the Joint Telematics Group at one of the IITs/IISc. It is the premier national meeting for academics, industry professionals, developers, policy makers and students in the areas of Communications, Networking and Information Technology to exchange and brainstorm ideas, identify common goals, and recharge oneself.
As in the past, NCC 2003 is packed with tutorials, plenary talks, and paper sessions on a wide range of topics. There is also a session showcasing some products developed in India. These are not to be missed.

The Workshop will bring together industry analysts, engineers, academics, managers, and policy makers in the telecom and Internet sectors, to determine what level of per-line investment the market can sustain if it is to expand to 201M lines, and what technological advances are needed to make this happen. It is a must for anyone who wishes to get a real grip on what can make the telecom revolution happen.
The Special Session, featuring a keynote address by Shri Suresh Prabhu, M.P., will try to forge a direction to address some of the power sector's most pressing problems, such as automated metering, billing, line disconnection/re-instatement, and detection of pilferage.
The Concluding Session of NCC 2003 will take a look at whether some of the tools of ICT, such as streaming multimedia, can be used to reach a large audience in an attempt to fill the gap between conventional engineering curricula and what industry is looking for.
The paper sessions are wide-ranging, encompassing all areas of current research interest - a heartening aspect of communications research in India today.

A number of Indian companies and laboratories are developing new products in the ICT arena. NCC 2003 will showcase the development aspects of some select products in a product session. The aim of this session, as in the past NCC conferences, is to share the development experience of various groups engaged in this nascent area.
