ADI
- IITM DSP Learning Center
Located in Electrical Science Block (CION Building) top floor of IIT Madras in an area of about 2000 sq.ft. The center is a Continuing Education Unit sponsored
by IIT Madras in the area of DSP application programming based DSPs of
Analog Devices. The center will be part of Electrical Engineering Department
of IIT Madras.
Analog
Devices will sponsor the center at IIT-M and provide the following in
the first three years of the operation of lab:

interior
decoration of the lab
-
equipment's
tools and Personal Computers required for the lab and audio-visual
equipments for the lectures
-
a senior
administrative official posted at the center on full-time basis for
the first three years of operation
-
grant
to cover initial experiment set-up, prepare course material, maintenance
expenses and for hiring project staff to help in conducting courses
-
all educational
and information about DSP available with ADI
It is expected that the total expenses of ADI would be $250K per year
for the first three years.
IITM
will provide the following:

space,
power and other amenities free of cost
-
academic
co-ordinators to design the academic program
-
faculty
and staff to design courseware and experiment set-up and deliver lectures
and conduct experiments
The
center would gradually gear up to train about 500 persons every year,
which include 400 students from various engineering colleges in the region
and about 100 industry person from India, Asia-Pacific and Europe. The
course duration and contents will be decided by the academic co-ordinators
in consultation with ADI. An initial proposal towards this is contained
in accompanying presentation "DSP-An Opportunity for India".
The
ADI administrator will set-up and maintain the center and carry out all
administrative responsibilities for the courses, including advertising,
registering students as well as schedule classes and experiments with
the help of administrative co-ordinator. The administrator will also market
the course using ADI offices and reps. in India, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
It
is expected that ADI University program as well as ADI "Systems Solutions"
will help in designing courseware and experiments as well as deliver some
of the lectures in the courses.
All
courses will be delivered as continuing education course of IIT Madras.
IIT Madras will work out an opportunity of revenue as generated from the
courses towards lecture and lab fees, overheads to IITM and towards center
maintenance and upgradation. ADI does not expect any share of the revenue.
The
program will be reviewed at the end of three years and ADI would be expected
to provide periodic upgrades of tools, equipements and PCs.
IITM
will appoint head of the center and an academic co-ordinator of the program
in consultation with Analog Devices. It is proposed that Dr.Ashok Jhunjhunwala
be the Head of the Center and Dr.K.M.M.Prabhu be the academic co-ordinator
for the first three years.
