A.N. Rajagopalan
Academic Background
Dr.
A.N. Rajagopalan received the B.E. and the M. Tech.
degrees in Electronic Engineering from Nagpur University,
Nagpur, and the Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from
the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in July 1998.

During the summer of 1998, he was a visiting scientist at the
Image Communication Lab., University of Erlangen, Germany. He
joined the Center for Automation Research, University of Maryland
in Oct. 1998 and was a research faculty till Sept. 2000. He has
been with the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT - Madras as
Asst. Professor since Oct. 2000.
He
has worked extensively on recovering depth from defocused images,
blur identification, image restoration, 3-D shape recovery from
X, higher-order statistical learning and data clustering, object
detection in still images and video, and face detection and recognition.
He serves as a reviewer for many international journals in the
areas of image processing and computer vision. He is a co-author
of the book ``Depth from defocus: A real aperture imaging approach",
published by Springer-Verlag, New York in March 1999.
