Academic
Background
Dr.Anil Prabhakar, obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Physics
from Carnegie Mellon Univ. in 1997 with a dissertation on
nonlinear effects in magnetostatic-wave optical devices.
Previous
degrees include a M.S. in Physics, a M.S. in Elec. Engg
(Fiber Optic and Microwave Communication) and a B.Tech in
Engg. Physics (IIT-B, 1992)...always toeing the fine line
between physics and engineering.

Between 1997 and 2002,he was a design engineer working on magnetic
recording heads at MKE-Quantum Components, Colorado and then at
ReadRite Corporation , California. He was also on deputation at
ReadRite (Thailand).
Research
Interests
-
Optical
Devices and Networks
Characterization and testing of basic optical components and
networks for use in India. The effects of scaling and the
use of protocols on the stability and statistical nature of
networks.
-
Nonlinear
Systems Analysis of nonlinear systems using time domain
techniques with the objective of characterizing their seemingly
chaotic nature. The techniques have a variety of applications
in mechanical, electromagnetic, economic, social and even
genetic systems.
- Magnetic
and Magnetic-Semiconductor Devices Finite element analysis
and micromagnetic modeling of recording heads for data storage
applications. Electrical transport in magnetic thin films. Tunneling
through magnetic and magnetic-semiconductor junctions for applications
in MRAM and spintronic devices.
